Overview of the Perecption Pescador Pro 12

There are three main colors to choose your Perception Pescador Pro 12 from. These are the Dapper, Salsa, and Grasshopper. While the colors are not the conventional ones that we know, the dapper is a blue and black colored one. Salsa is a red, yellow, and orange one. Grasshopper is lime and black. They are all fairly easy on the eye. 

This is a kayak that is designed to provide you with versatility of use. We will cover this in more detail later on. It is a 12’ or 365cm long, 32.5” or 82cm wide kayak. This provides plenty of room for a tall adult to fit in comfortably. 

The overall design is what we can describe as an open-top kayak. The user’s legs are out in the open with freedom of movement. We will have a detailed look at some of its key features.

Construction and build

The manufacturers of this kayak placed specific emphasis on producing a kayak that is both rapid and easy to control. The way that the top is more open means that there is more space to store your cargo while you are out on the water. 

There are 4 carry handles on this boat. Two of them are located on either side of the seating area. The other two are at the front and the rear end of the boat. The latter two are ideal for dragging the boat into and out of the water. If a single user was to carry the boat, they would be better off using the handles on the sides. 

Speaking of transporting it, this kayak also has a skid plate. It is designed to protect it from damage when dragging it. 

There is a good amount of storage space on both the front and rear of the kayak. It is open space storage that you can use for fishing gear, food, and beverages. Whatever you decide to store on here is kept secure by the bungee cord lashes that you can use to fasten your items on board. 

Seating

The Pescador Pro comes with a removable stadium-style seat. It gives you the option of two seating positions. You can either have it upright or slightly reclined. The upright position tends to the natural one for most users. Reclining the seat is suitable when paddling for a long time or relaxing out on the water. Users may also want to recline when casting. Changing from one position to the other is straightforward, and can be done on the water. 

This seat is made out of a mesh-like material that is lightweight. It is quite similar to the seats that you would find on camping chairs. If you decide to recline, you may benefit from stretching your legs forward onto the footrest. This footrest is fully adjustable to suit the height of the user. 

Durability

As with other boats from this brand, there has been a lot of effort put into ensuring that this one is durable. It comes with high UV, impact, and abrasion resistance. This means that it will not be adversely affected by direct exposure to the sun. It is also resistant to damage due to knocking against other surfaces. This is the highest risk that we face when transporting a boat. 

You will also be pleased to know that the colors and graphics that you love about your boat are also designed to last. They are capable of withstanding the elements and associated pressure. You will also find that they do not scratch easily. 

Weight

The Pescador Pro 12 weighs 64lbs/29kg. One person can comfortably carry this kayak from one place to another. It has a maximum weight capacity of 375lbs/170kg. This is sufficient for a large adult and a sizable amount of cargo. 

User’s Guide

Due to its open-plan sort of design, the Pescador pro 12 is incredibly versatile. There is a wide range of uses that one can get out of it. The design is best suited for use in lakes and ponds. Wherever there is slow-moving water, this kayak would do well. It performs just as well on calm coastal water. Although we would encourage caution when using it on open water, it is quite capable of taking said conditions on. 

Fishing

We have already discussed the versatility of this kayak, the design is clearly best suited for fishing. There are several features that have been put in place specifically for this. Just behind the seat are two molded fish rod holders. They are within arm’s reach without teh need of getting off the seat. This allows the user to easily switch between paddling and fishing. The rods and be secured in the molded holders while you paddle. 

One of our favorite features the fish finder console. This is an area towards the front end of the boat on which you can mount your device. It has a battery zone and a drill-free transducer mount. 

Right at the front of the boat is an additional area to place your rods. This is known as the rod tip recess. It allows the user to securely place their fishing rods. This is especially useful when going through an area where your rod may be in danger of becoming tangled in tree branches.
